AR/QR Miis
A ‘Mii’ is basically a virtual you – from your perspective, a virtual me – that Nintendo released at the same time as the Wii. Up until the 3DS released they could only be used on the Wii, but could be used on multiple Wii -s when registered to a certain Wiimote (typical Wii controller). They are similar to Sims from EA and Ubisoft’s game series of Sims and then MySims, MySims being the later release and yet having the less realistic ‘Sim’ Avatars. Of course, the less realistic ones are becoming more and more popular, with the new challenge on the Wii being to create the most recognisable Mii.
With the 3DS and Wii you can now scan AR and QR code markers to view and download Mii -s and famous game characters, along with other famous people. On this page are some of these code markers for famous characters. If you don’t want to use the QR code marker you can copy & create the Mii yourself.
In some magazines like the Official Nintendo Magazine there are special QR markers, too.
OK, as these are also like Avatars, I’ll start with the Avatar from The Last Airbender – Aang.
